Ondo: Police arrest prophetess, midwife over mothers, babies’ deaths

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two women, Elizabeth Aremu and Blessing Effiong, who claimed to be midwives, over the death of two women and their newborn babies at separate health facilities in different parts of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the two incidents separately occurred at Emure Ile in Owo Local Government Area and Akure, the state capital, within the month.

The PPRO said, “The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with separate cases of alleged maternal and infant deaths recorded under suspicious circumstances in Akure and Emure-Ile. Punch
