Gomo
Some Nigerians in a local community in Dundee, a city in Scotland, have expressed worry after a Zimbabwean woman, Fortune Gomo, 39, was killed on South Road Street on Saturday.
Nigerian locals in the area who spoke with PUNCH Metro said on Monday that the situation sparked concerns and raised safety concerns for the African community in the city.
According to the police, Gomo “died after being seriously injured” around 4:25 pm on Saturday.
According to locals, the deceased was reportedly stabbed by her assailant while walking on the road.

“She was stabbed,” a resident, Adedayomi Peter, told our reporter. “Everyone is worried,” he added.
The police in Scotland said they were treating the tragic incident as “murder,” noting that a 20-year-old suspect had been arrested in connection and was being arraigned on Monday. The police, however, did not give the name of the suspect.
“Fortune was treated by paramedics; however, she was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem has taken place, and her death is now being treated as murder.”
“A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with her death. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and he is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, 7 July 2025,” the police said in a statement published on its website.
The officer in charge of the inquiry, Detective Superintendent Peter Sharp, said, “Firstly, my thoughts remain with Fortune’s family at this incredibly sad time. They are being supported by specialist officers and I would ask that their privacy is respected.
“Our enquiries are continuing and I remain satisfied that the incident poses no wider risk to the public.
