Lagos seals YABATECH sewage plant over illegal discharge

The Lagos State Government has sealed the sewage and wastewater treatment facility of Yaba College of Technology for allegedly discharging raw sewage into the environment.

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, carried out the enforcement after several warning letters sent to the institution were ignored.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a post on X on Friday, saying the move became necessary following the college’s failure to comply with environmental safety regulations.

“The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office sealed off the dysfunctional sewage/wastewater treatment facility of Yaba College of Technology for illegally discharging raw sewage into the environment,” Wahab said. Punch
