Lagos: Cultists hack carpenter’s sibling to death

Suspected cultists have hacked a 28-year-old man, Olanrewaju Ogunyemi, to death in the Ilasamaja area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21.

Our correspondent gathered on Sunday that a gang of machete-wielding men believed to be cult members stormed the community in search of Olanrewaju’s brother whose identity had yet to be known.

When they could not locate him at his residence, our correspondent was told, they traced him to his workshop on Abeokuta Street.

Upon arrival, they met Olanrewaju, who was said to be keeping watch for his brother.

A resident who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity for security reasons said the attackers descended on him with machetes, inflicting deep cuts to his body.

“When they got to his house and didn’t meet him, they perceived he must be in his furniture shop. On getting there, they met his younger brother who was staying there and watching over the place. Without saying a word, they brought out machetes and started cutting him. They cut his face, his back, and his hands,” the resident recounted. Punch
