Amusan
World record holder Tobi Amusan has started the new year with a bang after securing a top-three position on the World Athletics rankings list of the best athletes in the 2025 season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The hurdling queen, alongside two other Nigerian athletes – Ezekiel Nathaniel and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi – are ranked among the world’s elite, securing positions in the top 100.
Their outstanding performances in hurdles and shot put have kept Nigeria prominently featured on the global athletics stage.
Amusan, who captured a silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships, finished the year as the third-best in her event worldwide. Amassing 1,430 ranking points, she was surpassed only by gold medallist Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland and America’s Grace Starks.
