Liverpool produced a dominant display to defeat Galatasaray 4-0 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) round of 16 second leg tie at Anfield on Wednesday.
Mohammed Salah became the first African to score 50 UCL goals, despite missing a penalty, as Liverpool scored thrice in the second half to seal a 4-1 aggregate win.
The Egyptian achieved the landmark ahead of Didier Drogba, who scored 44 goals in the UCL, and Samuel Eto’o, with 30 goals in the European apex club competition.
Against Liverpool, Galatasaray’s job was made more difficult with an injury to Victor Osimhen, who was eventually forced off.
Regardless, Dominik Szoboszlai put the Reds ahead with a well-taken first-time strike on 25 minutes before the hosts sliced through Galatasaray with two goals in two minutes through Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch early in the second half.
Salah, who saw his penalty saved in the first half, rolled back the years to curl into the top corner for his landmark goal. Thecable
