Fubara
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has warned suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State that only sincere reconciliation efforts can prevent his impeachment.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, on Tuesday, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, Tony Okocha, said the suspended governor had yet to initiate any meaningful steps to reconcile with the duly elected lawmakers in the state.
“I can confirm that there is no reconciliation effort currently underway in Rivers.
“The suspended governor has not made any move to reconcile with the lawmakers.
“Only genuine reconciliation can save him from impeachment, as the Supreme Court judgment stands,” he said.
The warning came as a coalition of youth groups in Rivers State called on President Bola Tinubu to restore democratic governance in the state and reinstate Fubara ahead of Democracy Day on June 12.
On March 18, 2025, the President imposed a state of emergency on Rivers State and suspended the governor, deputy governor, Prof Ngozi Odu and members of the state House of Assembly. Punch
