The House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs has resolved to commence a probe into the alleged mismanagement of $172,000 allocated to Nigerian missions in Vietnam, China, and North Korea between 2021 and 2024.
The funds, Sunday PUNCH gathered, were part of the budgetary allocations to Nigeria’s missions in the three countries for overhead, capital, and personnel expenditures.
Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Oluwole Oke, said relevant stakeholders, including the Regional Accountant to the missions in China and North Korea between 2022 and 2024, Mr. Shakiru Yahaya, had been invited to a meeting with the panel.
He said, “We are investigating a case of extra-budgetary expenditure and violation of the Appropriations Act, the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the Procurement Act, and the extant Financial Regulations. Punch
