Ondo varsity SSANU threatens strike over unpaid salaries, arrears

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike over alleged unpaid salaries, arrears, and other unmet demands.

The university’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities had also begun an industrial action since August over the same reason, but has yet to resume till now.

Similarly, the SSANU counterpart had earlier warned that the planned resumption of students and the forthcoming convocation ceremony could be disrupted if outstanding payments were not made.

The chairman of the Joint Action Committee in the AAUA, Olutayo Ogungbeni, while speaking on the development, on Thursday, accused the state government of reneging on promises made in June 2025 to settle arrears and increase subvention to tertiary institutions. Punch
