NYCN Spain Gets Official Recognition, as New Leadership Engages Nigerian Youths in Madrid

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Spain Chapter, has received official recognition from the Spanish Ministry of Interior, marking a new era of unity and progress for the organization after months of leadership disputes.Lady Kristie Wariboko
The recognition was celebrated at Restaurante Príncipe Fuenlabrada in Madrid, where members of the Nigerian community gathered to witness the formal ratification of the new Board of Trustees. The newly recognized board members include Lady Kristie Wariboko, Chief Dr. Chris Nkem, Chief Chukwudi St. Amaeze, Comrade Emmanuel Goodluck Igbokwe, Comrade EJOWVOKE LUCKY ADJARHO, and Comrade Kenneth Ugochukwu.
The event ended a six-month-long leadership tussle that had threatened the unity of the association, with the Ministry’s decision restoring confidence among members and reaffirming the organization’s legitimacy in Spain.New Era of Leadership and InclusionIn her inaugural address titled “New Era, New Vision: Celebration of Leadership,” NYCN Spain President Lady Kristie called on Nigerian youths in Spain and across the diaspora to rise to the challenges posed by global economic and security uncertainties.“With education, justice, and respect for the rule of law, there is hope for Nigerian youths, no matter where they live,” she said.Lady Kristie expressed gratitude to her fellow executives for their unity and resilience during the Council’s recent crisis, noting that despite being labeled as “rebellious,” they stood firm to defend democratic values and transparency. She also thanked the Spanish Ministry of Interior for “coming to the rescue” of NYCN Spain and restoring order within the association.She further emphasized the need for integration of Nigerian youths into the Spanish system, pointing out that active participation in Spain’s social, cultural, and economic structures is vital for long-term success.> “Without integration, it is difficult to aspire to higher opportunities,” she said, adding that NYCN will collaborate with Spanish authorities to create avenues for Nigerians to engage in innovation and cultural activities.New Initiatives for Youth EmpowermentVice President Dr. Chris Nkem announced two major programs aimed at empowering Nigerian youths: a Spanish Language Learning Course and a Job Skills Development Workshop.He said both initiatives would begin soon and be free for registered members, encouraging youths to register early.Comrade EJOWVOKE LUCKY ADJARHO, a member of the Board of Trustees, gave thanks for the Council’s stability after months of uncertainty, praising what he described as the “lion-hearted spirit of unity” among the executives.Public Relations Officer Chief Emmanuel Goodluck Igbokwe commended the strong coordination among the newly recognized leadership team, stressing that progress can only be achieved through justice, equity, and fairness.Similarly, Mr. Kenneth Ugochukwu, a young academic and trustee, urged Nigerian youths to prioritize education. He encouraged them to pursue higher learning opportunities within the European Union, assuring that “education opens every door.”Collaboration on ‘Reimagining Nigeria Symposium’The event also featured a goodwill message from Mr. Kosi George Isiodu, a lecturer and Ph.D. candidate at the University of Galicia, who invited NYCN Spain to collaborate on the upcoming “Reimagining Nigeria Symposium: A Journey Towards Identity and Economic Recovery.”The symposium, scheduled for November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hotel Puerta de América, Avenida de América 41, Chamartín, Madrid, will feature distinguished speakers including Mr. Peter Obi, Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Emenyeonu, Mr. Dele Farotomi, and Mr. Georges Kosieme Isiodu. The event aims to inspire Nigerian youths in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to national development and economic renewal.Responding to the invitation, Chief Chukwudi St. Amaeze, Co-founder and Secretary of NYCN Spain, as well as President of the Anambra State Association Spain, assured the organizers of the Council’s full support.> “The boat of NYCN Spain will sail without limits. The forces of division have been defeated, and our unity will propel us forward,” he said. A CALL TO ACTION.In her closing remarks, Lady Kristie Wariboko officially declared the NYCN Spain Chapter open to new members who desire personal growth, empowerment, and positive change. She reaffirmed her commitment to education, unity, and youth development, pledging that her administration would continue to promote opportunities for Nigerian youths across Spain.The event concluded with prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity among Nigerians in the diaspora, as the newly recognized leadership pledged to strengthen collaboration and uphold the values of justice and inclusion.
