Mourning as 19 wedding passengers killed in Zamfara river

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has condoled with the families and people of Gummi Local Government Area of the state over the loss of 19 wedding passengers who died in the river on Saturday while conveying a bride to her husband’s house.

The governor, who spoke through the Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Mahmud Dantawasa, described the incident as “an act of God.”

Dantawasa said, “The Zamfara State Government has received with shock the demise of several passengers drowned in the river after a wedding ceremony.

PUNCH Metro reports that the passengers lost their lives in a river near Gwalli village in the Gummi LGA.
