Immigration crackdown: US federal agents shoot another person dead in Minneapolis

United States federal agents have shot and killed another person in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an immigration crackdown in the city.
A crowd of people braved the winter weather and marched through the city to protest against President Donald Trump’s administration’s tactics to crack down on immigration.
During Saturday’s protests, immigration agents from Customs and Border Protection shot a man dead.
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Border Patrol officers were carrying out a “targeted operation” on an “illegal alien wanted for violent assault” when someone approached with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.
“The officers attempted to disarm the suspect, but the armed suspect violently resisted,” Tricia McLaughlin, DHS spokesperson, said.
“Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The victim has been identified as a 37-year-old US citizen.
This is the third fatal shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis this month.
