Babangida
Muhammed Babangida, son of Nigeria’s former military president, Gen Ibrahim Babangida (retd.), has formally accepted his appointment as chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.
Babangida, in a statement on Monday, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for what he described as an opportunity to serve the nation, while distancing himself from a letter widely circulated online suggesting he had declined the role.
The controversial letter, purportedly signed by Babangida, claimed he was turning down the appointment due to “a convergence of personal and professional considerations.”
The letter went viral on social media platforms and was widely shared by opposition figures. However, the Presidency swiftly dismissed the letter as fake via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, urging the public to ignore the misinformation. Punch
