Armed herdsman
The Igbo Delegates Assembly has called for a concerted action over the incessant attacks on farmers in the South East region by killer herdsmen.
In a communique issued after their second quarterly meeting held in Abuja, made available to South East PUNCH on Monday, the assembly condemned the heinous killings and called on the governors of Igbo states and heads of security agencies to up their games in providing security to protect lives and properties.
The communique which was signed by its President general, Chief Kenneth Okeugo, the assembly also expressed condolences to the victims of the Mokwa flood in Niger State and the mass killings in Yelewata, Benue State.
“We frown on the incessant and heinous killings going on in Igboland and all other parts of Nigeria by killer gangs/herdsmen invading and sacking towns and villages and harmless citizens massacred in cold blood without adequate response from agencies saddled with the responsibilities of protection of lives and properties,” the communique reads.
