Abugu

Anya Ndi Igbo, a non-partisan organisation with the interest of the Igbo at heart, has appointed Mr Felix Oguejiofor Abugu as its Secretary.
Mr Abugu, a veteran journalist takes over from Barrister Emeka Nwadioke, who has occupied the position since Sir Okey Nwadinobi, the pioneer secretary, was elected the Deputy President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide in January 2025.
A statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Amaechi, Chairman, Media & Strategic Communications Committee, Anya Ndi Igbo on Monday, October 28, 2025, said Abugu emerged Secretary of the group, which is committed to peace, security and development of Ala-Igbo and to peaceful co-existence between Ndi-Igbo and other nationalities, on the grounds of his professional accomplishments and in view of the extant realities of Ndigbo in the Nigeria state.
Mr Abugu, a thoroughbred journalist was Editor of Saturday Guardian and pioneer Features Editor of ThisDay newspapers. He was also pioneer Managing Editor of New Telegraph and later the newspaper’s Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief, as well as founding Editor/Managing Editor of The Oracle Today, an Onitsha-based newspaper. A well-respected columnist and regular commentator on public affairs, Abugu is currently the Co-publisher/Editor-in-Chief of AbeyaNews, an online news platform.
A one-time member of the Federal Government Publicity Committee on Capital Relocation, Mr Abugu is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGF), South East Editors Platform (SEEPLAT), and he is also on the Board of IKORO COLLECTIVE, an association of Senior Igbo Journalists and Media Influencers focused on public policy thrusts and changes in relation to the Igbo.
