File: Scene offire incident
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Tuesday said 133 bodies were recovered from various emergency incidents across the state in 2025, as it responded to 2,617 emergency calls within the year.
The Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this at the Annual Staff Engagement of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service held at the state secretariat, Alausa, Ikaja.
According to her, the service responded to 1,685 fire incidents, accounting for about 85 per cent of all emergency calls received, while 473 victims were rescued alive from different emergencies.
She said, “645 of the calls received were false alarms, a development the agency said continued to strain its operations and resources. Properties valued at N118.328bn were saved during rescue operations, while losses amounting to N19.72bn were recorded, representing a 6:1 save-to-loss ratio.” Punch
